Oscar takes Irvine Speedway off Jose
Weekly reckoning time. Oscar took Irvine Speedway off Jose by 2 seconds, 1:05. That one has a new owner. Randee took 2:34 off Pacific Island South and set 14:29. That is a proper improvement, not a rounding error. Ali came within 6 seconds of Randee on Back Bay Climb Out and no closer. Jake climbed 2 places on GC. Quietly, like someone with a plan. Down 1 place for Abe, who is learning that standings move whether you do or not. Jose went at Back Bay 2 mile TT once and came away with nothing. There is always next week.

Shame of the week
 | Jose, who let Oscar take Irvine Speedway off him by 2 seconds. He held it coming into this week. He does not hold it now. |
Individual assessments, delivered without affection
JOSE
Four rides, 97 miles and 4,787 feet. You hit Back Bay Climb Out once and did not improve. You lost Irvine Speedway to Oscar by 2 seconds. It is 1:05 to get it back. You went at Back Bay 2 mile TT once this week and did not beat your own 5:16, which is still 12 seconds off Oscar. Polka dot sits 6,804 feet away, which is a handful of proper days in the hills. Plenty of season left, which is exactly why it gets wasted.
OSCAR
Eight rides, 92 miles and 3,665 feet. You took 3 seconds off Irvine Speedway, down to 1:05. Two personal bests this week. You took Irvine Speedway off Jose by 2 seconds, in 1:05. That segment is yours until somebody comes and gets it. Highlands twice this week, still 53 seconds off Abe. You did take a personal best out of it. He has not had to respond yet. Jake is 4:33 behind you and closing is easier than defending. Do not get comfortable. There is time. There is not unlimited time.
JAKE
Up to three on GC this week, from five. Four rides, 86 miles and 5,367 feet. First time down Pacific Island South in 13:39. Once at Irvine Speedway this week and no improvement. 1:10 still stands, 5 seconds off Oscar. You are also the slowest man on two segments, Dump Hill among them. 15:22 covers the whole gap to the race lead.
ABE
Down to four on GC this week. Three was yours seven days ago. Three rides, 96 miles and 5,915 feet. No segment on the list was touched. Your 2026 blank list is five deep. Nyes Place sits on top of it holding 3:19 of your time hostage. Jake is 51 seconds up the road in third. That is one good segment, not a rebuild. Fifteen runs at Jeronimoooo! and it is still Oscar's. At some point that stops being persistence.
ALI
Down to five on GC this week. Four was yours seven days ago. Four rides, 66 miles and 4,314 feet. You took 14 seconds off Back Bay Climb Out, down to 1:21. You went at Quail Hill Sprint Climb once this week and did not beat your own 2:16, which is still 4 seconds off Jake. 67 feet per mile. You do not ride flat and it shows. The other side of it: seven last places, more time given away than you probably think.
RANDEE
Five rides, 78 miles and 6,017 feet. You took 2:34 off Pacific Island South, down to 14:29. You went at Quail Hill Sprint Climb once this week and did not beat your own 2:14, which is still 2 seconds off Jake. Three segments on this site are yours until somebody goes quicker. One segment stands between you and the full set this year: Santa Vittoria Dr. bump. Riding it once is worth about 2 seconds to your GC.
Stop missing segments by accident. Two minutes, once:
1. Star all 20 segments on Strava. They are all linked from the site. Starred segments sync to your head unit.
2. Turn on Live Segments on your Garmin or Wahoo. It warns you before one starts and counts you down through it, so you know you are on the clock instead of finding out on Sunday.
A segment you never knew you were riding is scored as a DNS, and a DNS costs the slowest time plus ten percent.
