Tour de SoCal

Week ending Sep 13, 2026
Jose takes the green jersey from Randee
Another week, another set of receipts. The green jersey has a new owner. Jose takes it, Randee hands it over. That is how this works. Abe went at Portola KOM Climb 4 times. 3:52 stands. At some point that stops being training and starts being a hobby. Oscar went at Back Bay Climb Out twice and came away with nothing. There is always next week. Ali, Jake, Randee, Abe, Jose and Oscar have each spent the season attacking a segment they still do not hold.

On the table

What you would save by riding segments you have skipped, at your own usual pace. A segment with no time on it this year is scored at the slowest time plus ten percent.

The jersey races

The leader rides along the top line and everyone else hangs below, so a line touching the top is a lead change. Tap either one to watch the season play out.

Shame of the week

RandeeRandee, who managed 16 miles.
His own average week is 99. That is 16 percent of a normal him, and nobody made him do it.

Individual assessments, delivered without affection

JOSE
You took the green jersey this week, off Randee. Five rides, 124 miles and 5,794 feet. You took 45 seconds off Starcrest, down to 3:59. Three personal bests this week. New best 5 min power at 365 watts. Starcrest is yours. 3:59, by 18 seconds of Oscar, who held it coming into this week. You went at Back Bay 2 mile TT once and finished 12 seconds behind Oscar. You did take a personal best out of it. That is close enough to be annoying and close enough to fix. About 4:06 is sitting on the table for you, and all of it is in segments you have simply not ridden this year. There is time. There is not unlimited time.
ALI
Four rides, 52 miles and 3,448 feet. Once at Portola KOM Climb this week and no improvement. 4:16 still stands, 24 seconds off Abe and Jose. You sit second, 18:01 behind Jose. Nobody is going to hand you that. Polka dot sits 8,677 feet away, which is a handful of proper days in the hills.
OSCAR
Seven rides, 103 miles and 5,974 feet. You took 9 seconds off Newport Coast Climb, down to 11:01. Starcrest was yours until this week. Jose went 3:59 and it is his problem to defend now, not yours. You went at Back Bay Climb Out twice this week and did not beat your own 1:18, which is still 3 seconds off Randee. Seven segments with no time on them this year. Not slow times, no times. Park Ave is the one that costs you most, at about 4:17.
JAKE
Three rides, 76 miles and 3,087 feet. You hit Quail Hill Sprint Climb once and did not improve. Twice at Irvine Speedway this week and no improvement. 1:10 still stands, 3 seconds off Jose. You are fastest on three segments, and Quail Hill Sprint Climb is one of them. Abe is 2:10 behind you and closing is easier than defending. Do not get comfortable.
ABE
Three rides, 63 miles and 3,356 feet. You hit Portola KOM Climb four times and did not improve. You went at Quail Hill Sprint Climb once this week and did not beat your own 2:20, which is still 8 seconds off Jake. The other side of it: two last places, more time given away than you probably think. 21:21 covers the whole gap to the race lead.
RANDEE
One ride, 16 miles and 2,211 feet. Let us talk about the 16 miles. You average 99 a week. This was 16 percent of a normal you, and nobody made you do that. Once at Quail Hill Sprint Climb this week and no improvement. 2:14 still stands, 2 seconds off Jake. Green is 62 miles up the road. Nothing technical about it. There is time. There is not unlimited time.
Stop missing segments by accident. Two minutes, once:

1. Star all 21 segments on Strava. They are all linked from the site. Starred segments sync to your head unit.
2. Turn on Live Segments on your Garmin or Wahoo. It warns you before one starts and counts you down through it, so you know you are on the clock instead of finding out on Sunday.

A segment you never knew you were riding is scored as a DNS, and a DNS costs the slowest time plus ten percent.

Standings as of 8:30 PM Pacific on Sun 13 Sep. Everything is scoped to the 2026 season. tourdesocal.com
