Jose takes Pacific Island South off Ali
Let us see what everyone got up to. Ali held Pacific Island South coming into this week and does not hold it now. Jose went 11:56. Randee matched Jake to the second on 4000 meter: 5:01 apiece, and neither of them owns it. Ali took 3:48 off Laguna Canyon -LF 2 F and set 15:36. That is a proper improvement, not a rounding error. Jake came within 3 seconds of Jose on Irvine Speedway and no closer. Abe slid 1 place down the GC without touching a bike wrong. Just got out-ridden.

Shame of the week
 | Ali, who let Jose take Pacific Island South off him by 5:01. He held it coming into this week. He does not hold it now. |
Individual assessments, delivered without affection
JOSE
Eight rides, 157 miles and 8,064 feet. You took 6:17 off Pacific Island South, down to 11:56. The headline from your week: Ali no longer owns Pacific Island South. You do, on 11:56. 157 miles against your own 99 average. Something has got into you and the rest of them should hope it wears off. Three segments still have no 2026 time against your name. Park Ave alone is worth 3:04 to you, and it is not going to ride itself. 124 days is long enough to fix this and short enough to run out.
ALI
Up to two on GC this week, from four. Five rides, 123 miles and 4,977 feet. You took 3:48 off Laguna Canyon -LF 2 F, down to 15:36. Three personal bests this week. Laguna Canyon -LF 2 F is yours and Jake's, dead level on 15:36, and Randee is out of it. Jose took Pacific Island South off you by 5:01 this week. You held that one coming in and you do not hold it now. You attacked Portola KOM Climb once this week and came up 24 seconds short of Abe and Jose. There is time. There is not unlimited time.
JAKE
Up to three on GC this week, from five. Five rides, 111 miles and 5,495 feet. You took 3:45 off Laguna Canyon -LF 2 F, down to 15:36. Three personal bests this week. You and Ali both went 15:36 on Laguna Canyon -LF 2 F, which takes it off Randee and leaves the pair of you joint fastest. Nobody owns it outright until one of you goes quicker. 3 seconds. That is all that stood between you and Jose on Irvine Speedway this week. Add up everything you are giving away by not riding the segments you skip and it comes to about 10:49. That is not training, that is paperwork.
ABE
Down to four on GC this week. Three was yours seven days ago. Five rides, 146 miles and 7,457 feet. You hit Portola KOM Climb once and did not improve. You lost Starcrest to Ali by 9 seconds. It is 4:24 to get it back. Pacific Island South once this week, still 37 seconds off Jose. You did take a personal best out of it. He has not had to respond yet. That is 187 percent of a normal week for you. Credit where it is due, and a warning to everybody above you. Plenty of season left, which is exactly why it gets wasted.
RANDEE
Down to five on GC this week. Two was yours seven days ago. Three rides, 140 miles and 4,085 feet. You took 17 seconds off 4000 meter, down to 5:01. You drew level with Jake on 4000 meter, both of you on 5:01. Level is not ahead. One more second and it is yours outright. You went at Irvine Speedway once and finished 3 seconds behind Jose. That is close enough to be annoying and close enough to fix. Laguna Canyon -LF 2 F was yours until this week. Ali and Jake went 15:36 and it is their problem to defend now, not yours. Plenty of season left, which is exactly why it gets wasted.
Stop missing segments by accident. Two minutes, once:
1. Star all 21 segments on Strava. They are all linked from the site. Starred segments sync to your head unit.
2. Turn on Live Segments on your Garmin or Wahoo. It warns you before one starts and counts you down through it, so you know you are on the clock instead of finding out on Sunday.
A segment you never knew you were riding is scored as a DNS, and a DNS costs the slowest time plus ten percent.
